Black Edition Now Extends To The XC90

Volvo Cars’ distinctive Black Edition variant is now available on the new XC90 plug-in and mild-hybrid SUV, and includes four striking exterior colours.

Volvo Cars has introduced the distinctive Black Edition variant, now available on the new XC90 plug-in and mild hybrid SUV. This edition offers four striking exterior colours.

Each Black Edition car features unique exterior details, including the iron mark, grille, rear badges, and wheels, all finished in high-gloss black.

Each Black Edition vehicle features unique exterior details, including the iron mark, grille, rear badges, and wheels, all finished in high gloss black. Inside, customers can choose between two all-black interior options, both featuring charcoal headlining and chequered aluminium decor, along with two material options for the charcoal-coloured seats.

Traditionally, Black Edition models were available only in Onyx Black. However, Volvo has recently expanded the selection to include three additional exterior colour options: Crystal White, Denim Blue, and Vapour Grey. Regardless of the chosen colour, each variant maintains a bold appearance, rooted in Volvo’s Scandinavian design ethos.

With the addition of the XC90, there are now five models available in Black Edition trim. The large hybrid SUV joins the XC60, the fully electric EX40 and EC40, and the XC40 mild hybrid. An EX30 Black Edition variant is also in development, with further details about its release forthcoming.

Due to clear demand from our customers, we are expanding our lineup of Black Edition vehicles by adding the XC90,” says Erik Severinson, Chief Commercial Officer at Volvo Cars. “Now, there’s a timeless and confident-looking Black Edition available for our customers across all sizes.”

The XC90’s addition brings five Volvo models in Black Edition, including the XC60, EX40, EC40, XC40 mild hybrid, and an upcoming EX30 Black Edition.

The new XC90 has undergone extensive updates, featuring a wide range of technological and design enhancements for 2024. This makes the current XC90 the best version of Volvo’s award-winning flagship hybrid SUV to date.

The XC90 is recognised as one of the safest cars on the road, equipped with an advanced safety cage and a comprehensive array of active safety technologies.

The plug-in hybrid XC90 leads a wide range of Volvo’s hybrids with a cord. These plug-in hybrids act as a bridge to an all-electric future and provide a backup plan for customers who may not be ready to fully switch to electric vehicles.

Therefore, they play a vital role in Volvo Cars’ electrification strategy for the upcoming years as the company aims to become fully electric, offering a diverse and exciting range of premium cars with zero tailpipe emissions.
