A New Vision of Electric Mobility!

Dacia is reconsidering what customers desire from an EV, creating the popular electric car of the future with the unveiling of a new concept car.

Named the Dacia Hipster Concept, it challenges automotive norms and reflects Dacia’s aim of making electric mobility accessible to everyone.

Dacia has launched the Hipster Concept, a fully electric vehicle designed to halve the carbon footprint of electric cars while fulfilling daily mobility needs. Over the last 20 years, Dacia has concentrated on making essential mobility accessible to as many people as possible.

The Dacia Hipster Concept features four actual seats and a practical boot, all within a vehicle that measures just three metres long.

The Hipster Concept is designed to be a practical and economical everyday car. Measuring just 3 meters long, it seats four people and features an adjustable boot capacity of 70 to 500 litres. At 20% lighter than the Spring model, it minimises raw material use and energy requirements.

Designed for both city and rural driving, the Hipster Concept offers sufficient range for daily journeys, requiring only a recharge twice a week, which aligns with the travel habits of most drivers. Dacia aims to deliver affordable electric mobility, tackling the rising costs of new vehicles in Europe.

A Simple and Clear Exterior Design

Successful cars in the automotive industry are known for their innovative designs.

Romain Gauvin, who leads Advanced Design and Exterior Design at Dacia, says, “We aimed to create a true people’s car with a unique and memorable design—a car that can be sketched in just three pencil strokes.”

The Dacia Hipster Concept is simple and strong. It appears to be a solid block on four wheels, with no extra length at the front or rear.

This straightforward style shows in the front design, which is completely flat and includes sleek headlights, giving the Dacia Hipster Concept a serious yet friendly appearance.

Designed for real life, the Dacia Hipster Concept is suited to all everyday situations. Thanks to the folding rear seat, boot capacity can vary from 70 litres with four passengers to 500 litres with two passengers.

The rear is all about practicality. The tailgate is wide and opens in two sections for easy access to the trunk.

Dacia has also created a smart rear light design. These lights sit behind the tailgate window and don’t need a separate glass cover.

Following this design philosophy, the Hipster Concept is painted in a single colour and features only three painted sections: the front and the side door entry areas.

The design is reinforced with effective side protection using Starkle®, a material partly derived from recycled plastic, developed by Dacia’s engineers. The front and rear skids are also fully coloured, aligning with Dacia’s ‘Robust and Outdoor’ concept.

The Dacia Hipster Concept stands out from other cars. You can see this right away. Instead of a typical door handle, it has a strap, making it lighter, cheaper, and just as functional.

BIGGER ON THE INSIDE THAN ON THE OUTSIDE

The Dacia Hipster Concept offers a surprisingly spacious interior despite its compact size.

The interior design complements the boxy exterior, featuring vertical windows and a glazed front roof that flood the space with natural light. Side windows that slide open help lower costs and weight.

The interior of the Dacia Hipster Concept has been optimised to offer exceptional space, given its compact exterior dimensions.

Four adults can sit comfortably inside, with the driver and front passenger positioned similar to the Dacia Sandero for a clear view of the road. Wide door openings and a tilting front passenger seat make access to the rear seats straightforward.

The seats are designed for comfort, featuring a simple look with a warm technical mesh fabric and a bench-style front seat that evokes classic cars. Openwork headrests contribute to weight reduction.

The practical design allows for a boot capacity of 70 litres with four passengers or up to 500 litres with just two. The dashboard includes two airbags for added safety. The interior is ‘YouClip® native,’ featuring 11 anchor points for customizable accessories, such as cup holders and armrests.

For connectivity, the smartphone docking station supports Dacia’s BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) system. You can also use your smartphone as a digital key to unlock and start the car, with the dock serving as a screen for navigation and connecting to a portable Bluetooth speaker.
