The London Concours will showcase a wide range of rare and exotic automobiles in the heart of the city next week. The event will feature legendary racetrack vehicles, collector classics, modern hypercars, and more. It will take place from June 4th to June 6th at the Honourable Artillery Company lawns.
One of the star cars on display will be “The Beast,” powered by a 27-liter Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Known as the “Super Rolls,” it was rumored to produce 750-1000bhp and was listed as the “world’s most powerful car” in 1977. John Dodd extensively drove ‘The Beast’ on Germany’s Autobahns, and it was recorded hitting 183 mph, with a believed top speed of 200mph.
The “Hypercar” class will showcase some of the most impressive performance cars ever built, including the Jaguar C-X75 prototype. Unveiled in 2010, it was an all-wheel drive, plug-in hybrid with a powerful 1.6-liter turbo and supercharged four-cylinder engine that produced 502bhp at 10,000 rpm. It also had two electric motors for instant torque and could travel up to 60 km in pure electric mode.
The car has combined power output of 850bhp and 738 lb/ft of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds, 0-100mph in under 6 seconds, and reach a top speed of 220 mph. It was featured in the James Bond film “Spectre” and has recently been made road legal by Ian Callum’s firm, CALLUM.
The display will showcase a special example of the McLaren P1, a celebrated British hypercar. Launched in 2013, the P1 featured a 903bhp, 217 mph, and a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor. With the active rear wing and vented bodywork, it could generate 600kg of downforce at 160 mph. The June show will feature the factory development prototype P1 ‘XP05’, a rare public appearance for this significant hypercar.
The event offers a taste of what to expect, including cars, food and drink options, live stage discussions, and luxury brands. London Concours 2024 promises to be an unforgettable automotive indulgence.
