The London Concours in June will showcase a celebration of the V12 engine and display the unique Jaguar XJ13 prototype, designed to compete at Le Mans in the 1960s with a 5.0-litre V12 engine. The stunning motor produced 502bhp at 7600 rpm, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual ZF gearbox. Unfortunately, the XJ13 never raced due to Jaguar’s merger with BMC.

Another unique machine to be showcased is a 27-litre V12 Rolls-Royce, known as ‘The Beast’ or ‘Super Rolls’. It was rumored to have between 750 and 1000 bhp and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the “world’s most powerful car” in 1977. The RAC recorded it hitting 183 mph with a very brave test driver, although it was believed to be a true 200mph car.

The Lamborghini Diablo, a 90s poster supercar, will be at the event. It featured a mid-mounted V12 engine with 485bhp, reaching a top speed of 202 mph. The car was in production until 2001, undergoing slight modifications after Audi’s takeover.

The Vanquish, a British V12 supercar designed by Ian Callum for the new millennium, will be on display. Introduced in 2001, it combined the graceful elegance and style of a traditional grand tourer with modern V12 muscle. It featured a 460bhp 6.0-litre V12 in standard form and up to 510bhp in the later Vanquish S. The V12 Vantage, its younger sibling, was released in 2009 and featured a 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510bhp, a significant increase over the V8 model. Both cars showcased the transformative power of a V12 engine.

This summer’s event will feature around 80 cars, ranging from classic models to modern hypercars, set in a green oasis at the center of London. Keep an eye out for more updates on the classes that will be included as we get closer to the 8th edition of the London Concours.

Andrew Evans, Managing Director, London Concours, said: We’re delighted to announce this class celebrating perhaps the most evocative automotive ingredient: the V12 engine. At the heart of countless exotic machines over the decades, the V12 has long been associated with glamour, performance and of course – a spellbinding soundtrack. It is sure to further enhance our show this June, which is set to be our most exciting automotive summer garden party yet.”
